Rape as a Man
For project 1 our thinking skill was contextualization. I wanted to talk about rape in the context of a female vs. a male. When we think of rape we always think of a girl being overcome by a man. We never think of the fact that there are male victims as well. I took the spoken word People You May Know by Kevin Kantor and a spoke word I wrote called What Does Rape Look Like? and contextualized them. I them made a reaction video and flimed people reacting to all the facts, stories, and spoken word I found about male rape.
ArtI wanted to show the reaction of people when they found out all of the interesting facts about rape and sexual assualt as a man. I made a video in the same style as Tbe Fine Bros "People React To..."

HistoryThe main reason I felt lead to talk about rape in the context of a man is because of the Menendez brothers. The Menendez brothers were sexually abused by their parents their whole lives which then lead them to murdering their parents. I am so sure that if those Menendez brothers were Menendez sisters then they would not be in prison right now.

EnglishIn the video, I included this very powerful video of this man named Kevin Kantor sharing his story after he was raped. He saw his rapist on the people you may know tab on facebook. In this spoken word he said something so powerful. He said, "No one comes running for boys who cry rape." I took his spoken word and and contextualized it to show what is spoken word would look like in the context of my rape story and vice versa.
